The Rules

1. This is an easy one. Since TFOS is about comedy, and since no one is supposed to get killed, you may not use any sort of lethal weapon against people (although explosives are acceptable in certain cases). There are plenty of fun, nonlethal guns that you can use or create. remember, this is a comedy, not a bloodbath.

2. Keep your character in context. Remember, your character does not know everything you know, so don't have your character use information from a situation it wasn't present at. Also, don't try to be superman and solve every problem or scenario with a quick fix. It can cause a lack of decent plots, and it's a lot more funny if you make a few mistakes. I've done this before and it only leads to a lot of pissed-off players and referees.

3. If you want to start a new plot or direction for the story to go, you must OK it with the referee.

4. To keep the game moving, you should post a message at least once per day.

5. You should buy a copy of the Teenagers From Outer Space Sourcebook. It explains in detail how to play, how to create characters, and in general how to play a successful campaign. And it also helps keep R. Talsorian games off my back. 6. Keep in mind that a play-by-email scenario means that there is a longer amount of time between posts. You can do more than one action, in some cases speak for others to do a dialogue, etc. To see how this works, visit the Kevlar Archives for an example.

7. A general format for the mail messages:

Name of character
Current location of character

IC (what happens to your character/actions/etc.): Your Actions

OOC (comments to group): Who should go next, comments, suggestions, problems, etc.

A true example (from the Kevlar PBEM):

Kiburi-san
Victoria's Secret

IC: Kiburi-san finally managed to cut the trenchcoat loose with a pair of fabirc scissors he had found in the back.

"Why are you averting your eyes?" Teri asked.

"Remember what happened last time?"

"Oh. Well, how much are they, anyway?"

"You're not seriously thinking of buying them?"

Just then, Kiburi-san heard an odd sound, like nothing he'd ever heard before. Curious, he went back into the main store, where a small, old japanese man was trying to fry Montresor on a portable hibachi. The man was covered in lingerie from montresor's gun, and from the appearance of it, Montresor was trying to load another clip.

"Excuse me, sir, can I help you?"

"This isn't the make-your-own-meal buffet, is it?"

"Uh, no, this is Victoria's Secret, home of the infamous CBB. Why?"

"Then what's this I'm grilling up here?"

"That's my robot, Montresor."

"Hmm. I thought it looked too shiny for a whole chicken." The man tipped Montresor out of the grill, and Montresor sprang up and fired his secondary weapon, sending the lingerie racks flying.

"Well, I'll just be going along now." The man packed up the hibachi and walked off.

"What a wacko!" Montresor shouted after him.

Teri returned, now in her dress.

"So, shall we go?"

"Um, what about getting dinner first?" Kiburi-san asked.

OOC: Over to Teri

As you can see, there are a number of actions that can happen in a single message. In each message, you can go forward with whatever particular plotline is happening, but don't go too fast. Give toher players a chance to show their character's views of that situation before going on.
