Squirtles resemble turtles, although they usually stand erect. Their arms end in stubby hands which are capable of holding and using equipment. Squirtles always have blue scales, and their shells range from light peach to dark orange, but are usually brown. Squirtles are selfish and greedy creatures who delight in the humiliation of others. They generally rove the countryside in gangs so that they can be spectators for the cruel pranks that are inevitably performed on innocent bystanders by their fellow gang members. Squirtles practice all manner of theft and extortion, but rarely resort to violence. Strangely, despite the fact that Squirtles are uniformly criminal in their native environment, human society is relatively tolerant of Squirtles. In part this is because many Squirtles are captured by pokemasters, and a good trainer can make good use out of a Squirtle's water generation abilities. Further, while Squirtles ask extortive prices to put out fires, it is still vastly cheaper to pay off Squirtles than it is to allow a city to burn. Combat: Bubble (Su): A squirtle can emit a highly accurate stream of acidic bubbles. They always hit, and inflict 1d3 points of damage for every 2 hit dice the Squirtle has, with a minimum of 1d3. Skills: Squirtles get a +2 Racial bonus to Pick Pocket, Open Locks, and Move Silently.
Wartortles are larger than Squirtles, and they have distinctive, non-functional wings on the sides of their head. Wartortle's are a darker blue than Squirtles are. Wartortles and clichish and mean. They treat newcomers with suspicion and derision. Wartortles are very difficult to reason with, interrupting sentences and mocking petitioners. Nevertheless, they are dedicated when working to put out fires, and have been known to allow their work to be financed by bizzare, high-interest credit schemes. Combat: Bubble (Su): A Wartortle can emit a highly accurate stream of acidic bubbles. They always hit, and inflict 1d3 points of damage for every 2 hit dice the Wartortle has. Bite (Su): A Wartortle's bite inflicts an extra d3 negative energy damage on living or undead targets. Skills: Wartortles get a +2 Racial bonus to Pick Pocket, Open Locks, and Move Silently.
Blastoises have metallic cannons on their backs. These cannons fire significaant amounts of water, and do considerable damage. Blastoises have external ears, long white claws, and terrible attitudes. Blastoise make a big show of ignoring almost everything that anyone tells them, and are usually kleptomaniacs. Blastoises rarely stray far from water, prefering to live on islands or on river banks. Blastoise have a small connection to the negative energy plane, which they maintain with sloth and greed. They can channel negative energy with their mouths, and also spit a continuous stream of water out of their mouth. Since a Blastoise can magically create water inside itself that it can breath, Blastoises never need to breathe air or water. Combat: Bubble (Su): A Blastoise can emit a highly accurate stream of acidic bubbles. They always hit, and inflict 1d3 points of damage for every 2 hit dice the Wartortle has. Bite (Su): A Blastoise's bite inflicts an extra d3 negative energy damage on living or undead targets. Water Guns (Ex): A Blastoise has massively powerful water guns built into its back. They can be fired together as a standard action. Each inflicts 2d12 damage with a successful ranged touch attack, and they need not be fired at the same target. The Water Guns have a range increment of 20 feet. Skills: Blastoises get a +2 Racial bonus to Pick Pocket, Open Locks, and Move Silently. |
